Recent Sound Engineering, or ‘Did I just get it wrong?’

The last two tracks are less rough and ready than the others but I’ve finally stopped recording on the internal mic of a mac and used an Edirol FA-66 audio interface with a Shure SM 57 and SM 58.

A quick poke around online about recording acoustic guitar pointed me in the direction of condener mics, ‘transient response’, ’spaced pairing’ and ‘X-Y Technique’ . So why am I recording a notoriously difficult resonator with a couple of dynamic mics? There are several reasons. Read more
